Orchard’s Square’s very own Roseannah store was one of 100 from around the country invited to represent the UK’s 5.4 million small businesses at a special event at The Treasury on Friday 5th December to mark Small Business Saturday 2015.

Rachel Salway, owner of Roseannah- the fair-trade fashion and accessories store raising awareness for human trafficking- joined other small business owners at a special Christmas Market at HM Treasury to meet with Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne.

Small Business Saturday, a not-for-profit campaign, brings attention to small and independent businesses in communities across the country. Its aim is to prompt people not only to spend money with small independent businesses in the run-up to Christmas but also to create a mind-set to support them all year round.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, commented: “Small Business Saturday is about championing some of the brilliant entrepreneurs and firms we have in this country and make sure everyone is aware of the powerful role they play.”

Rachel Salway said: “I was thrilled to be chosen to exhibit at the Christmas Market at HM Treasury, it was an amazing opportunity to meet George Osborne and bring attention the work we do to a national scale”.
